I've always tried to support local farmers with every thing I buy. Always buy American as much as possible. We usually only bought the cheap eggs at Easter for dying when the kids were little. Actually, I grew up with home made eggs. My family always had a bunch of rag-tag chickens that supplied more then enough eggs for the family and then some. But lately, when I'm confronted with hard times and tight money and a bunch of hungry mouths to feed, it's easy to buy the 18 store bought eggs for $1.99 over the organic ones for $4.00 Same with the milk...hormone infested for $2.00 a gallon, or Organic for $4.00 a gallon. I avoid this as much as possible....so far I don't have heart disease, cancer or Alzheimer's...but the day aint over yet!
OK, off MY soap box now!

Deb, There is no mailing in pictures to pass inspections. Most of the hen houses are kept as clean as possible. They use a special grating so the manure falls thru instead of staying on the floor for the chickens to walk thru. The eggs have to be clean. How many years did you eat store bought eggs, thankful to find them on sale cheaply before you raised your own? Cathryn
