I noticed swinging wire doors/gates that can swing down and cover up the roosting area such that they can't leave the perch area. Wonder when that would be used. Any ideas?

I thought this was free range and organic was the feed and how they kept the hens parasite free. I think the picture is staged. The birds had to have been put into that barn with it clean specially for the picture. What do you think? Hens producing "organic" eggs are housed in giant warehouses - tens of thousands of them in one building where they may have "access" to outdoors which could be one door out onto a patch of asphalt.Here is a picture of an "organic" flock - not what most people expect -Janet - Healdsburg CA
