Re: [CHICKENS-101] Chicken baths

laura,
sounds fun. im having to start all that this week. we have a round up on thursday and fairs coming up and a few shows. we have already done the nail trimmings and the beaks look ok to me. my daughter is getting her show kit together and my husband is building more cages to haul them and letting them stay in after baths. its been very busy around here lately. but have fun and good luck at the fair.

We gave our first baths today...16 I think, each child's 7 Fair birds, plus 2 extra :-)  County Fair birds have to be cooped on Monday, so I wanted to get everyone bathed today if we could.

It was actually fun and not as gross as I thought it would be~LOL  We had a nice breeze and temps in the high 80's, so I didn't feel bad letting the birds dry outside in wire bottom cages.  ALL of the chickens were awesome, from the Bantam Lav's up to the BIG young Light Sussex.  The turkey pullets were NOT amused and let us know pretty clearly.  I have the scratch marks to prove it :-)

I filed 1 beak and trimmed lots of toenails.  We'll do a final bug dusting tomorrow just in case and a spit shine (of sorts) when we take them in on Monday afternoon :-)

We're having so much fun :-)
