Yep, any animal has to be protected from predators. Depending on your area more so than others. Still, I have had more issues keeping predators away than power outages. In two years I have lived here I have had a total of 4 hours of no electric. In 6 months of raising chickens I have buried more animals than than I have in 10 years.
