That's what I'd read somewhere a long time ago. Make a hole in a guest-bar sized soap and string them around your trees or garden to keep deer away.......they don't like the smell of the soap. Have heard some say that Irish Spring works "better", but always had a feeling that was just a more human-aimed personal preferrence, LOL! I like it's smell too <G>.
I've never had a chance to need to try that before, and after having seen a number of deer near the horses' pasture fence over there several evening-times (not by the tree 'tho - she was the first one I caught munching that), I haven't seen any at all since hanging that little bar of soap on that tree. Heh, I don't mind them being in the yard - just don't eat my young apple tree, LOL!
To make this chicken-related (LOL!), I don't think soap works with them. Got a feeling they'd just peck-check it out..............ROFL (and yick!!!).

What does stringing a bar of soap from a tree do? Is it the smell that deer
don't like and does it work for other animals?  Susan
