Re: [CHICKENS-101] eggs

My husband ate my first egg and I was so upset!  I had wanted to blow it out and save the shell.

That's so sweet your hubby has been providing all those various nesting materials.  The chicken maybe didn't know what to do and was really surprised to see an EGG behind her!  Let us know which nest they like best.

We got our first egg today- it was right on schedule.

My husband has been agonizing over how best to fill the nesting boxes.  He has each one nested differently (one is sand, one is alfalfa, one is wood chips, one is johnson grass and the last one is standard hay) so that the chickens will find one they like and be happy.  The first egg was unceremoniously dumped on the ground.  I don't think the chickens appreciate how concerned he has been with their comfort for the last month.
