When I lived in ALBQ the USAF came thru and sprayed our yards and homes. Their main concern were sand fleas, because there had been several cases of bubonic plague brought to ER on base. We packed up all our food, dishes, et... before they came.
Calif, same thing only my landlady had someone come out once a month. I never really had a problem in my yard or house. I know they used lots of boric acid and baits in both places. BUT, huge spiders somehow got in and gave me freaked out fits. Huge, hairy, nasty things- my paranoia, deep seated fear to the core is to spiders in the house or on me. I took to spraying the bottom of the bender and counter tops under items. I was given papers when I first arrived to TX that told me to keep all food in tupperware and/or in the refrigerator. I never had roaches in my apartments and/or homes in Witchita or Jasper, TX, in Sunnymead, CA, Riverside, CA, ALBQ, NM, (OK< et..the list goers on- miltiary families travel). The real knowledge came from the locals who taught me about flash flood ditches, rattlesnakes, chiggers, ticks, poisonous snakes, black widow spiders, scorpions, lizards that would bite, et....
I came home to MI with relief. I loved my traveling all over and living all over the USA, but I had no idea there were so many nasty biting things on this Earth. But of all the places I've been, Houston, TX, took the cake, hands down. Roaches everywhere outside, thicker than flies on road kill. Humidity so thick no one could breathe, including my in laws and family. Anything without air promptly molded, mosquitoes so big you could be carried off, alligators in the beautiful clear lakes - couldn't swim, aggressive bees, leaches the size of snakes, fire ants, chiggers, et...It just seemed that I spent every second of my son's waking minutes protecting him and I from everything when we left MI. Exhausting and traumatizing. I grew up with no fear of the outdoors and never worried about anything hurting me out in nature. Cath
I think they left out a few suggestions on how to get rid of them..... 2 that come to mind.... burn your home or move :-)

I would suggest an atomic blast .... but they have proven they can survive high doses of radiation.
