Jenn, If you have somewhere where you can purchase 4 pullets you are ahead if you want eggs sooner than later. If you want the fun of raising chicks then I'd start with 6-8 chicks. You can sell your extras if they all make it and all end up being pullets. Cath

Is it better to order chicks or purchase a few pullets for a small, family coop?
We really only want like 4 laying hens.
