Hi Sgt Cude, A chicks best friend is a thermometer. The second thing you should have is "Storey's Guide to RAISING CHICKENS" by Gail Damerow.
Now, where did you order your chicks from? Most hatcheries have a minimum order of 24 chicks. If you are getting them from a feed store they will gladly sell you everything you need.
Since time is short some quick tips. Set up your box out of a draft, it should be at least 24"L X 24"w X 18"h. with the light so that thermometer reads 100deg F, right under the light. Line the bottom with paper towels and spill some food (chick starter) on top. After a couple days add pine shavings for litter. With a 1 quart feeder and water bottle this should hold you for a couple weeks, then your going to need a bigger box. Trust me. A chick will eat 10# of feed in 10 weeks.
Keep us informed
