Georgia is right, but for me that works out fine. Because of the big tree that shades the coop, during the summer, the west window gets shaded, but also allows the predominantly westerly breeze to enter. During the winter, there are no leaves, and the sun is much appreciated. I think you kind of need to think thru what the different seasons will bring:)
