[CHICKENS-101] Re: OT Attn. Shawna

Never say never, Shawna. All any of us can say is , "I don't believe my child would do that." You're probably right; yours wouldn't. But some people's kids do. I've been in the schools as a parent, a teacher, and a volunteer, and some kids do horrendous things. There was a kid at my husband's high school who liked to sneak up behind people with long hair and light their hair with a lighter. He's SOMEBODY'S kid.

Never underestimate the trouble even good kids can get into when hormones and inexperience come into play.

When my son (a very well-behaved, mature kid) was in junior high, there was a girl that was teasing not only him but some of his friends. It went on for weeks; she had a history of this type of behavior. Finally, when one of his friends was reduced to tears by the girl, my son slid  a dime across the lunchroom table and said, "Here. My dog had a good time last night." HOLY MOLEY! He never heard anything like that our of our mouths, and he told me later that he knew as soon as he said it he'd gone "way over' the line. Gee, ya think, Chris!?! DUH! When the vice-principal called and explained the situation (laughing, because the girl was a real pain in the patoot), I warned him not to dare to go easy on Chris; he was to give it to Chris with both barrels. And boy, did Chris get it when he got home, too! My husband didn't have to do a thing. I'd reduced Chris to rubble way before Rod got home from school.
