[CHICKENS-101] has anybody heard that 5 million chickens died

Now I keep hearing different amounts. But Alabama lost their chicken industry.. So I'm thinking that the price of chickens and eggs are going to be up soon.

And I think a few others were lost in other states.

[CHICKENS-101] Re: Baby Chick

As a breeder of cockatiels, I've found that in a case of like this if you give them some electrolytes or just a small amount of sugar in the water give it to them with a syringe drip drip drip into their mouth and it should come out of it..birds a bird. Good luck

[CHICKENS-101] Re: Eric, may I introduce you to Sandie?

What I'm feeding is this........purina, I went looking for any other brand but nobody is carrying anything else. So it's what has to be.

I've tried the dogfood story and that worked good......

Oh and tonight they had spaghetti, and bread. I also had some corn that they liked it's not good for them in the heat......but this had bugs in it, and they loved the bugs.......

3 more weeks and they can move over to pellets but I'll have to go to texas for that.........and see if I can find something over there.

TS only carries purina. I'll have to try some other source.

[CHICKENS-101] Why is it so hard to get Chickens?

So I get to Tulsa Feed and buy Flea and tick shampoo, a dog collar,
extra rawhide bones and a couple of plants.
The next day Tulsa Feed gets Chickens in. Production reds, Orphingtons
and Americanas.
I'm broke! Chuck agrees to hold a half dozen Americanas and Orphingtons
for me until Tuesday.
10 minutes after Tulsa Feed closes today my friend comes over with the
cash he owes me. Now I have to wait until MONDAY!

[CHICKENS-101] Re: Green egg layers, asils

Hi Carolyn, thanks for the reply. I've been breeding and raising several breeds of chickens for nearly 30 years. Mostly I raised and bred American Pit Games, creating two of my own unique strains that made me famous among the local cockers. I also had a few Asils for awhile and loved them and always wanted to get more.

The seller insists that he sent pure Asil eggs. I told him he probably doesn't have what he thinks he has and that he should make sure what he bought, 4 years ago, is pure Asil. I told him that I don't think it is and am not even going to set the eggs he sent me as I need to know they are "Pure" Asil. I told him, in my third message, to keep the money but check to see what he has. I told him to do some research on what breeds of chickens lay green tinted eggs to see if ANYONE lists Asils as being one of them. In his first message he said to set the eggs and see what hatched and If they weren't Asil he would refund my money. I told him I won't even set the eggs he sent. I haven't heard back from him yet. We'll see.

What breed or breeds of Oriental Game Chickens do you have?

Eric

I bought some eggs on Ebay that are supposed to be laid by pure Asils but two of them are light green tinted. I can't believe they don't have at least a little Araucana in them.

[CHICKENS-101] Re: Eric, may I introduce you to Sandie?

Hi Sandie, I live up near Las Vegas about 20 miles out going towards Santa Fe. I have mostly my own breeds of American Pit Game but I also have Asils, Dark Cornish, White Rocks and Black Tailed White Japanese Bantams.

I've had a couple of Cockatiels. Lemon, my first, was my "tweettypie". I had her for 12 years.

Many chickens like each other, usually if they are raised together but may become good friends if introduced later given enough time.

If they are all the same age the little brown one on the left is either stunted, a runt of a much smaller breed. I can't tell from your pictures. That's the trouble with buying from a feed store; you just not know what you're getting.
