Re: [CHICKENS-101] Ginas chickens

I just look inside the coop which is a huge dog house. It is solid wood and like you it only has the hole for the cord but a predator couldn't squeeze a chicken through that hole! It is difficult to count the chickens when they are in as the house sits on the ground and I would have to kneel on the wet muddy ground to really be able to see. The door was still locked when I let them out this  morning. I did look at them several times yesterday and they seemed to be all there. I think they were all there too when I fed the scratch about an hour before they went in their house. There is no sign of a predator or any feathers. I walked my entire property today. I have an acre.
This is the first time I have lost chickens this year except for the fiasco with the cat getting my blind rooster.

Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: OT chip barms and blue pop lol

Georgia, I MISS GREEN TEA!!!  IT IS A NO NO ON COUMODIN.  I also miss cranberry juice, (with a splash of wine on a Sat night), and .... :(  :(  Cathryn
PS What's a stamper?

I'm drinking a lot of green tea right now too, but since it's been a bit cold here, I'm taking the tea hot.  : )

Barbara, are you a stamper?

Re: [CHICKENS-101] OT Rainbow the lovebird riding herd on seramas

OMG, maybe I will have to give any Serama chicks to Baby, my Senegal parrot! heehee
He rules the roost around here and when he yells "get in here, right now" everyone comes running.

[CHICKENS-101] OT Rainbow the lovebird riding herd on seramas

Rainbow riding herd on the seramas when they were 4.5-5 months old.  Rainbow yells, "Get into corner!", and the seramas ran to do his biding!  It was so funny!!!  I had to move Rainbow to a different cage because even though he was tiny, he guarded 4 food dishes from them.  Lovebirds are quick and can be quite territorial.  When my seramas stood around with their tails down, I decided it was time to move Rainbow.  (I did not name Rainbow; he was an unwasted, neglected bird that found his way to me.  He was given to me, is very gentle, gives kisses, and has never bitten anyone since he came to live w/ me. Cathryn  PS  These seramas were raised in the house and have never lived with other chickens.

Re: [CHICKENS-101] Silkies hiding eggs

I have silkies who think they hid their eggs from me by laying them in the feed tank of a feeder.  Like I can't see them sitting in the feed on their eggs!  Another will get under the metal casing of a computer to hide her eggs from me. She can't see me, but I can see her fluffy tail sticking out.  Silkies will also spend hours covering their backs and sides in bedding, then lay flat as a pancake. Silkies are too funny!  Cathryn

LoL They have already started that..lol I get to go on treasure hunts...roflol

Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: And I thought I got robbed!

-Yesterday I was in an antique shop where someone had marble chicken eggs.  I thought I should maybe get a couple.  Phew - $12.00 an egg.  I carefully put them back in the basket

Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: OT catahoula and Chicha gas

Eric, House birds can't have Lysol or room fresheners sprayed around them. I got up so Dixie had to get down and didn't let her back up!  LOL! Cathryn

My dog Chicha can clear a room! I keep a can of *Lysol* spray air freshener handy and put a counter spray into the air when she gasses up the room.
