Hmm... Don't suppose we're really twins separated at birth, do you?  Sounds like identical behaviour... <g>  (Have to clean and take down temporary hound kennels tomorrow, but if I start early enough, and drag DH with me, I might get back home in time to start in on the mobile chicken coop...)

Lisa,
Hand turning is fine, I do mine that way and have great results. You just have to remember to turn them three or four times a day.
As long as the incubator is set correctly it will be fine for chicken eggs. The Hovabator is what I have but it is the one with the electronic thermostat. Which one do you have?

You can purchase turners for chickens or geese at:

www.cutlersupply.com / phone: 810-633-9450

www.eNasco.com/farmandranch / phone: 800-558-9595

I think the size of the turners will fit any Hovabator.

I hear ya on patience, not one of my virtues either. Reminds me of an old joke....two vultures sitting in a tree, endlessly waiting for something to die. One of them looks at the other and says, SCREW patience, I'm gonna KILL something!

Good luck ;)
