Re: [CHICKENS-101] Over run with deer

You can't shoot as many as we have and you'd better do it with a bow quietly because the city doesn't allow guns.  We have fencing to raise the fencing to 10ft  the garden around but it is getting it done.  H's friend (who I wish would get lost because of the stupid things he does like digging out down to 6inches around my pear tree) had convinced him to put up the fence without the proper fence posts - I stopped that stupid mess. I am looking at 2 acres of garden  and orchard, and 14 of pastures.  I may just give up and put in what I need in a chicken pen here and put the rest in at my parents.

Where I live a 30-06 is what we use and have venison in the freezer, but short of that and for suburb/city folk, the local wildlife refuge center sells cougar urine.
I have also heard hair works, and that is free from the beauty salons or barber shops. My dog pees in the yard and the deer go to my neighbor's house J
As always YMMV

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Over run with deer

We are over run with deer chomping on the fruit trees, gardens, berries, and flowers.  I count on my extra fruit, garden surplus, berries, and the crops I plant,  for my chickens.  These are city deer, not afraid of people, and are fed by neighbors. Any idea on how to get rid of them so the deer stay in the neighbor's yards instead of my pastures and orchard?
