Thanks Catherine!
I will pick the chicks up in the late morning/early afternoon (as soon as the P.O. calls) and make sure they are all eating and drinking before I choose which to put under the hen(s) after dark. I haven't heard of using shells before, but why not?
I included some gro gel in my order and have fresh chick feed (unmedicated) on hand. I have food/water containers ready to go...just need to find my headlamp. I have a seat in front of the brooding pen, and am halfway through a novel so that's good to go. Actually the weather is lovely this week so the timing is good. :)
Fingers crossed. Can you tell I'm excited? :)

PS Make sure the chicks are eating and drinking before you put under your hen, and put their food dishes and water dishes they know out around the hen up on 2x4 pieces, ok? I feed gro gel plus and chick feed with shipped chicks for the first feeding, then just chick feed.
